In order to reserve a time slot in the upcoming academic year, student must first:
-
Pay a $50 annual studio fee along with the first semester's tuition payment. This fee helps defray the costs associated with recital venue rentals, recital event insurance, recital program printing, Suzuki Association memberships, business management, administration and continuing education for the teacher. This annual fee will be added to the Fall 2021 semester tuition, or to a new family's first invoice. The studio fee is per family, not per student.

Payment
Families can either pay monthly, or for the semester in full. Except in the case of teacher cancellations and inclement weather where online lessons are impossible, semester tuition will remain constant.
Tuition is calculated by tallying the number of lesson days in the semester period (between 18 and 21, depending on the day of the week). One lesson is credited to the student, which can either be used as a free lesson or as a buffer to account for one student cancellation. One lesson is credited to the teacher, which can be used for unforeseen teacher cancellations. In summary, students pay for 2 fewer lessons than are scheduled.
If student is paying monthly, each month's payment is due at or before the first lesson of the month. Students will be assessed a late payment fee in the case of frequent late payments.
If student is paying for the semester in full, this payment is due at or before the first lesson of the semester.
Payments can be made electronically by PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, or in person by personal check. Emailed receipts for submitted tuition payments are available upon request.
Cancellations
To understand the studio policy on cancellations, please remember that each student is reserving the same time each week in the teacher's schedule for the entire semester. In each semester, one lesson is credited to the student (given for free). This credit is already factored into the semester tuition. If for any reason the student needs to cancel a lesson, this credit is used. Additional cancellations are not refunded.
Teacher Cancellations
If the teacher needs to cancel for any reason, the teacher's one lesson credit is used. This credit is already factored into the semester tuition, and the student has not paid for this lesson. If the teacher needs to cancel additional lessons, the student will be offered a make-up lesson time if possible. If no make-up is possible, the missed lesson will be refunded or credited against future semester payments.
Inclement Weather
Lessons can be cancelled at the teacher's sole discretion due to inclement weather. The teacher will contact students to cancel lessons - students should assume lessons are still occurring if teacher has not cancelled. Lessons cancelled due to inclement weather will be rescheduled or taken online via internet video conference if possible. If no make-up is possible, the cancelled lesson will use the teacher's lesson credit or be refunded or credited to back to the student.
Reschedule Policy
Students' lesson times are reserved for the entire semester, and when a student asks for a make-up lesson or a rescheduled lesson this impacts multiple families' schedules. The teacher will attempt to accommodate and ask other families about their flexibility, but make-up and rescheduled lessons cannot be guaranteed.
